Anyone who has parented a ‘tween - a child aged 9-13 - knows the challenges for these young people. They often feel left out because they don’t feel like they are children anymore but they are not yet teenagers. Stuck in the in between can be uncomfortable for them.

This summer we are inviting tween foster girls to participate in a summer camp program where they can be a part of our Jobs Network program. The girls will learn all aspects of our online clothing resale, including curating outfits for tweens, photography, writing item descriptions, putting items on the website, shipping, marketing, etc. Our tweens will get a feel for the work world and will be able to see the results of their labors when their outfits they created appear on the website and are purchased for other tweens.

Also, as we have seen from our work with aging out foster youth, the program not only instills the good work habits and behavior; but it also gives our kids an entrepreneurial spirit they may never had encountered given their difficult histories.

In the world of our Jobs Network, the message is: You can do it. Why not you?

As summer fast approaches we are asking for donations of gently used tween clothing (kids sizes 6-12 or Junior sizes 0-3). Please drop off donations at Milestone House or call 760-433-6361 to schedule a pick up. Ask for Beverly or Michelle. Back
