Milestone House Founder
and Executive Director
Beverly Boone with Sade,
her 9 year old Coton de Tulear
For many years, Milestone House’s founder and executive director, Beverly Boone, has worked with troubled and under-privileged teens in a variety of settings. She specializes in working with teens with special learning needs by providing educational therapy services, including testing, counseling, remediation planning, compensatory strategies,
and tutoring – with the ultimate goal of creating independent learners.

Graduating with honors from Alvernia University, Beverly went on to receive her Master’s Degree from The Pennsylvania State University, where she also became a lecturer in English. It was here that she began working with students with learning disabilities, which became the focus of her work.

In 1992 Beverly founded Milestone House, knowing that a high percentage of children in the child welfare system have learning disabilities. She began to put her unique knowledge and abilities to work for foster children, ensuring that they received much needed appropriate services that put them on track not only to graduate from high school but also to attend college. Beverly is the author of three books, To Be Somebody, The Road Ahead, and Basic Training for Residential Childcare Workers.
